Learn new (but easy!) crochet technique to make soft and cozy decorative blanket for all astronomy lovers!
The original idea behind this pattern came to me from the way we usually picture the Star of Betlehem where I live.

At the same time, the Betlehem Star was a shooting star as well, wasn’t it? So this pretty, contrasting graphic design can be the best fall/winter companion for all evening-sky lovers as well as an ultimate Christmas sofa decoration. Or why don’t you hang it on the wall above the Cradle, beside the Christmas tree?
Also in spring, or even summer, evenings might be chilly, so a nice chunky lapghan to cover your legs while crocheting in the backyard would be so useful! Not to mention all the birthdays of your loved ones, when they make a wish, a shooting star might surely help to fulfill them all…
If you’re new to corner to corner crochet technique, I encourage you to give it a try. To start you just need to know how to double crochet. I will link a few great tutorials by Jess from Make and Do Crew, that will help you and I’m sure you’ll fall in love in this great and easy crochet technique.
And… if you need a smaller star project, you can make in no time, have a look at my Scrappy Stars, free pattern is HERE.
All your dreams will come true when you fall asleep under this atmospheric throw. Make it for yourself or for a little stargazer you know.

Notes
- Blanket is worked using written pattern or chart and the diagonal c2c block, in double crochet stitches.
- Begin in lower left hand corner and work diagonally through chart.
- Add new ball of yarn for each new change of color (might be practical to untangle after each row). Most of the time you will work with three balls: 2 of yarn A and 1 of yarn B.
- When blanket is finished, add tassels.
If you’re unfamiliar with c2c technique, here are Jess’s (makeanddocrew.com) great tutorials.

How to read written pattern:
→ Row 34 [WS]: A14, B11, A10
• Arrow indicates direction of row.
• Letter indicates which color of yarn to use.
• Number indicates how many c2c blocks of each color to work. Therefore, for this example, you’ll work 14 blocks in color A, 11 blocks in color B and 10 blocks in color A. Then turn your work and proceed with Row 35.
The first 2 rows have been written out to guide you. See videos above if you’re new to c2c.

Using yarn B, make 4 tassels, about 10cm/4″ long.
Attach the tassel to each of four corners. Hide the remaining ends inside the tassel. Use hair brush to brush the tassels. Trim.
