This pattern is based on a classic granny square, but at some point you have to turn the square by 90 degrees and break rounds into rows.

Just a few long autumn evenings should be enough to complete it and enjoy during the rest of dark season. But when the days become longer again, why don’t you take it to the picnic?

This pattern uses simple, repetitive stitches, so make yourself a cup of tea, relax, grab a hook and let’s begin!

Now work in rows, perpendicular to edge.

For the corners, work Rows 2 and 3 with a slight change: for approx 8 rows around each corner sl st in just ONE (instead of TWO) sts of Round 1.

Rep Rows 2-3 until border is complete. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Sew first row to last row. Weave in ends.
